A practice built on assessment before intervention
Dr. Gem Raghav Prashanth completed his DM in Cardiology at Government Chengalpattu Medical College under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, where he was awarded the Dr. Aroutselvan Memorial Gold Medal in Cardiology in 2025.
His clinical training is unusually broad: a Diploma in Child Health from Madras Medical College and DNB qualification preceded his cardiology super-specialisation. He served as Senior Resident in cardiology at Government Chengalpattu Medical College from 2022 to 2025, managing adult and paediatric cardiology cases including diagnostic and interventional procedures.
He currently serves as Assistant Professor and Interventional Cardiologist at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Science & Research Centre, KVELL University, Chengalpattu, alongside his clinical practice at JG Heart and Hematology Centre.

The consultation comes first
A careful history and unhurried examination decide most of what follows. Investigations are chosen to answer a specific clinical question, not ordered as a routine panel.
Guideline-directed, not guideline-bound
Contemporary cardiovascular guidelines form the starting point for every decision; where the evidence is uncertain or the patient sits outside the trial population, that is discussed openly.
Intervention when it is indicated
Coronary intervention is a tool with clear indications. The decision to proceed — or not to — is made on clinical grounds and explained before anything is scheduled.
Continuity over episodes
Cardiovascular disease is managed over years. Follow-up, titration of therapy and periodic reassessment are treated as part of the treatment, not as optional extras.

CADRIDS is a research-derived risk-stratification tool. It supports the assessment of risk; it does not diagnose coronary artery disease and does not replace clinical assessment or established diagnostic testing. Further evaluation and external validation in larger and more diverse populations are warranted.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Listening beyond your heartbeat.
A stethoscope tells you what the heart is doing. It does not tell you what a person is worried about, what they can afford, what they will actually take every morning, or what they are frightened of hearing. Cardiology that ignores the second half of that gets the first half wrong more often than it admits.
So the aim is straightforward: make an accurate diagnosis, offer the treatment the evidence supports, explain it clearly enough that the decision genuinely belongs to the patient, and then stay involved long enough for it to work.
