1 Who this policy applies to
This website (drgemcardio.com) is operated by Dr. Gem Raghav Prashanth, practising at JG Heart and Hematology Centre, No. 595/628, TH Road (Service Road), Old Washermanpet, Chennai 600 021, Tamil Nadu, India. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “the practice” refer to that practice; “you” refers to a visitor to this website.
For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the practice acts as the Data Fiduciary in respect of personal data you submit through this website, and you are the Data Principal.
2 What this policy does and does not cover
This policy covers only the personal information you provide through this website — principally the appointment enquiry — and the technical information automatically recorded when you visit it.
Information collected and maintained as part of clinical care — your medical record — is handled separately, in accordance with applicable medical-record confidentiality, record-retention and data-protection obligations. Clinical records are not outside data-protection law; they are governed by an additional layer of professional and medical-records requirements that this website policy does not attempt to restate.

If you send an appointment enquiry, we collect:
Your name
Your telephone number
Your email address, if you choose to provide one
Your preferred consultation location and preferred date
The brief reason for consultation that you provide
If you contact us by telephone, WhatsApp or email, we receive whatever information you choose to send in that message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site’s hosting platform records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and time of visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working correctly, and to understand in aggregate how the site is used. It is not used to identify individual visitors.
4 Information we deliberately do not collect
The enquiry route is intentionally limited. Please do not submit through this website:
Detailed medical history, symptoms in depth, or clinical narratives
Test results, scan images, ECGs, echocardiogram or angiogram reports
Aadhaar, PAN or any other government identification number
Insurance, card or bank account details
Photographs or documents of any kind
These are discussed and reviewed in person at consultation, where they can be handled with appropriate clinical and confidentiality safeguards. If such information is sent to us unsolicited through the website, it will be deleted once your enquiry has been dealt with.
5 Why we collect it, and on what basis
Information submitted through the enquiry route is used for one purpose only: to respond to your enquiry and arrange your appointment. That includes telephoning or messaging you to confirm a date and time, and telling you where to attend.
We process this information on the basis of your consent, which you give by choosing to contact us. The purpose is stated at the point of collection, and you may withdraw consent at any time (see section 8).
We do not use your details for marketing. We do not send promotional messages, newsletters or campaign material, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
6 Who can see your information
Enquiry details are accessible only to Dr. Gem Raghav Prashanth and to the administrative staff at JG Heart and Hematology Centre who arrange appointments.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or any third party for their own purposes.
Information may be handled by service providers strictly as part of running the website — the website hosting platform, and the messaging or email service through which your enquiry reaches us. These providers process the data on our instructions. Where an enquiry is sent to us through WhatsApp, that message is also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a statutory or regulatory authority.
7 How long we keep it, and how it is protected
Enquiry details are retained only for as long as is necessary to arrange and complete the appointment, and for a short period afterwards for follow-up. Where an enquiry does not lead to an appointment, the details are erased once it is clear no appointment is being arranged. Where an appointment does take place, the relevant clinical information moves into your medical record and is thereafter governed by medical-records requirements rather than by this policy.
We apply reasonable security practices and procedures to protect the information we hold, in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and with the security obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, and you send information to us at your own discretion.
8 Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to:
Access — ask what personal data of yours we hold and how it has been processed
Correction and completion — ask us to correct inaccurate or misleading data, or complete data that is incomplete
Erasure — ask us to delete your data where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, subject to any legal requirement to retain it
Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent to processing at any time, as easily as you gave it
Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us about how your data has been handled
Nominate — nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 11. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer arrange an appointment for you.
Note that the right of erasure does not extend to your clinical records, which we are required to retain for the periods prescribed for medical records.
9 Children
Where an enquiry concerns a person under 18, it must be submitted by a parent or lawful guardian, who confirms by submitting it that they consent to the processing of that child’s information for the purpose of arranging the appointment. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children through this website, and we do not use children’s data for tracking, profiling or advertising.
10 Cookies and analytics
This website uses only the cookies necessary for the site to function on the hosting platform, together with any basic analytics used to understand aggregate traffic. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site tracking. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the site will continue to work.
