ABOUT THE CENTRE
A setting built for careful cardiac assessment
JG Heart and Hematology Centre provides outpatient cardiology consultation and long-term cardiovascular care, including adult and paediatric cardiac assessment and consultation. The Centre is designed around unhurried clinical assessment — enough time for a proper history, examination and explanation — with investigations arranged as clinically indicated.
Patients are seen both for first opinions and for continuing management: hypertension, dyslipidaemia, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and valvular disease are all managed here on an ongoing basis, with onward referral to equipped cardiac facilities when a procedure is required.
AT THE CENTRE
Cardiology consultation and services
First cardiology consultation
Full history, cardiovascular examination and review of any previous investigations, followed by a clear explanation of findings and the plan.
Follow-up and titration
Structured review for patients already under treatment, with adjustment of medication and periodic reassessment of risk.
Cardiovascular risk assessment
Assessment of blood pressure, lipids, glycaemic control, weight and family history, with an individualised prevention plan.
Electrocardiography and laboratory tests
ECG and relevant laboratory testing may be facilitated where clinically indicated and available.
Echocardiography
When clinically appropriate, cardiac investigations including echocardiography may be scheduled at the earliest suitable appointment.
Paediatric cardiac consultation
Cardiac assessment and consultation for children — evaluation of murmurs, suspected congenital heart disease and cardiac symptoms.
Pre-operative cardiac clearance
Cardiovascular risk assessment before non-cardiac surgery, with recommendations for peri-operative management.
Second opinions
Independent review of an existing cardiac diagnosis, investigation results or proposed treatment plan.
Onward referral for intervention
Where coronary angiography or intervention is indicated, this is arranged at an appropriately equipped cardiac facility.
The exact investigations available on site should be confirmed at the time of booking, as some tests may be arranged at an associated facility.

Clinic operating information does not by itself confirm Dr. Gem’s personal availability on any given day. Every appointment is confirmed individually before you attend.
Video follow-up consultation
Video consultations may be available for selected patients when clinically appropriate. Remote consultation suitability depends on the patient’s clinical needs, and some assessments may require an in-person examination or investigations.
If you would like to request a video follow-up, say so when you message to book and it will be assessed alongside your clinical details.
Emergency — do not wait
For acute chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse, or other potentially serious symptoms, seek immediate emergency medical care. Do not wait for a WhatsApp response, a video consultation, or a routine appointment.

What to expect at your visit
Bring what you already have
Previous ECGs, echocardiograms, angiogram reports, blood results and a list of current medicines — including doses — make the first consultation considerably more useful.
Expect questions before tests
The history usually narrows the diagnosis more than any single investigation. Tests are then chosen to confirm or exclude a specific possibility.
You will leave knowing the plan
What the findings mean, what treatment is recommended and why, what each medicine is for, and when you should be seen again.
Ask about anything unclear
Including cost, alternatives, and what happens if you choose not to proceed. These are legitimate parts of the decision.
