WHEN TO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST
Symptoms that warrant a cardiac assessment
Not every chest symptom is cardiac, and not every cardiac symptom is dramatic. These are the presentations most commonly assessed at the clinic.
Chest pain or tightness, particularly if brought on by exertion and relieved by rest
Breathlessness on climbing stairs or walking, that has worsened over weeks or months
Palpitations — a racing, thumping or irregular heartbeat
Blackouts or near-fainting, especially during exertion
Swelling of the ankles with breathlessness on lying flat
Newly diagnosed high blood pressure, or blood pressure that is not settling on treatment
Diabetes with a family history of heart disease, or an abnormal ECG
An abnormal ECG or echocardiogram found on a health check
Emergency — do not wait
Severe or persistent chest pain, chest pain with sweating or vomiting, breathlessness at rest, or collapse are emergencies. Go to the nearest emergency department immediately — do not book an outpatient appointment and do not wait for a WhatsApp reply.

Patients travelling from North Chennai
TH Road runs through Old Washermanpet and connects north towards Tondiarpet and Thiruvottiyur, and south towards Royapuram and the harbour. Patients from Tondiarpet, Korukkupet, Royapuram, Vyasarpadi and Pulianthope are within a short local journey.
By metro and rail
Old Washermanpet is served by Chennai Metro on the blue line, with Washermanpet and New Washermanpet among the nearby stations, and Washermanpet railway station on the suburban network. Confirm the closest access point when your appointment is booked.
